What if I say that there is a solution to that problem? Well, actually there is if you can invest a little time and patience to get the right clutch bag for your outfit. Matching the clutch bag actually doesn’t matter if you are having it for a casual event but if you are planning for a formal event or any wedding, then you’d die to do anything to have a perfect clutch bag! And if you are into colors and gems, then you will definitely love this DIY Painted Gem Clutch Bag!
Most of us have something in our jewelry box which we no longer wear or use where you might find a necklace with gems. Well, the rhinestones are the main things to remodel your clutch so you have to select them carefully. If you don’t have anything like that in your collection, then you can always buy them from a craft store which will be easier for you to make a great pattern. Now, for this project you are going to need a clutch bag either from your wardrobe or you can buy a new one. You can buy something cheap because you are going to refashion it anyways and there will be no chance to find out the price of the real clutch bag when you are done with the project.
So to make this custom gem encrusted clutch bag, you are going to need a clutch bag, a strong glue, spray paints to color the gems (you can choose the colors by matching them with your dress color), some gems (can be bought or you can use your old jewelry). Now gather all the gems that you are going to use for the bag and use a bin liner or cardboard box to arrange them. At first, choose a pattern in which you want to attach them to the bag. When you have decided the pattern, now choose the colors of different gems that you want them to be and arrange them in different sections to apply the spray color.
Try to have bright colors if you have a dark colored clutch bag which will highlight the gem colors. Next, spray the gems with a fine coat of spray paint. They will need few hours to get dry and you will have to repeat the same process for 2-3 coats of paint so that the color can get its real shade. If you want to get the best result, leave them overnight so that they can dry completely. Now as you have already selected the pattern, arrange all the gems on your clutch bag. If you want, you can make changes again before you finally attach them.
At this stage, you are going to attach the gems to your bag by using E3000 glue. You can use a wooden spoon or toothpick to apply the glue on the back of each gem. Attach all the gems by applying the glue and sticking it to the required location on the clutch bag. When you are done with applying all the gems, let the glue get dry for overnight again. You are ready to use the clutch bag on the next day. So that’s all you have to do to make a perfect DIY painted gem clutch bag! Isn’t it great to have the customizing option for your clutch bag? You can do the same again if you love this project. Choosing the colors of your own choice is the best option you are going to get in this project. So when are you going to make one for yourself?
